Elyès Jouini was born in Tunis in 1965 and studied at the Lycée Pierre Mendès France where he was recipient of a scholarship for academic excellence throughout his studies. He graduated top of his class from the French High Schools of Tunisia with highest honors on his baccalaureate and received a Tunisian government grant to continue his studies in France. His first two years in France were spent studying at the École Sainte-Geneviève in Versailles….
Elyès Jouini works at the interface between mathematics, economics and finance. His preferred fields of research include financial economics, particularly transaction costs, heterogeneous beliefs, aggregation models, long term risk and the term structure of interest rates.
Elyès Jouini's career has been marked by numerous awards and distinctions. In 1990 he received the Nathalie Demassieux prize for the Académie de Paris's best thesis is the Sciences. Elyès Jouini was a Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research, London from 1996 to 2005. He was co-recipient of the 2009 Best Young Economist Award, with Esther Deflo, professor at MIT.
Although I remain a mathematician at heart, this award is an official recognition from the world of economists. They now consider me as a member of their family.
